Diana Jue-Rajasingh

Diana Jue-Rajasingh is an assistant professor of strategic management at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business. Her research sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, emerging markets and sustainable development. She uses mixed methods to explore how social innovations like smoke-reducing cookstoves, water treatment technologies and biodegradable sanitary pads can be promoted by new ventures and supporting organizations in the contexts of East Africa and India. Her research has been supported by the Kauffman Foundation, Strategy Research Foundation and Responsible Research for Business Management, among others. Prior to attending the University of Michigan for her Ph.D. in strategy and sociology, Diana was the co-founder of Essmart, a social enterprise that tackles the problem of last-mile distribution for social innovations in peri-urban and rural India. For her work in India, she was recognized as an Echoing Green Fellow and a Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur. She received her S.B. degrees in economics and urban planning and her master’s degree in international development from MIT.
