John Wisneski
Assistant Clinical Professor of Management – Organizational Behavior
John E. Wisneski is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Organizational Behavior Research Group at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. He previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at both the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Dayton, an M.B.A. from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University. John teaches in the areas of organizational behavior, creativity and innovation, leadership, strategic thinking and the consulting work process. He is the recipient of numerous student-selected graduate teaching awards, including the 2017 Professor of the Year Award at the Kelley School of Business, and the 2018 Most Impactful Core Professor Award at the W.P. Carey School of Business. In 2020, he was recognized by Poets & Quants as a Favorite MBA Professor for the Class of 2020.
Prior to pursuing a career in academia, John spent 13 years at Accenture in the roles of Analyst, Consultant, Manager and Senior Manager. During his tenure, John worked across a wide-range of industries including Natural Resources, Financial Services, Retail, Automotive, and Consumer Products. John’s primary work responsibilities included selling and leading the delivery of large-scale systems integration Programs, and he consulted with numerous Fortune 100 companies including American Express, General Motors, Walgreens, and PepsiCo.
John’s current research examines the transfer of tacit knowledge within the enterprise. His research has been featured in The Interned and Higher Education and Business Horizons. In 2015, he was the recipient of the Elvin S. Eyster Teaching Scholar award at Indiana University for his ground-breaking research on the transfer of knowledge between classroom and online learning environments. In 2020, John co-authored Strategy in 3D: Essential Tools to Diagnose, Decide, and Deliver.
In his leisure time, John enjoys retreating to the beach on Bolivar Peninsula and watching the Houston Astros make another run at the World Series.
