Omar Matuk-Villazon

Omar Matuk-Villazon, M.D., M.B.A., serves as the chief medical officer and chief of clinical services at Suvida Healthcare, a private equity backed company established in 2021 with a focus on delivering high-quality, culturally competent care to Hispanic seniors. With more than 20 years of primary care experience, Dr. Matuk has been instrumental in the foundation, development, and success of Suvida Healthcare.
As a co-founder, Dr. Matuk has effectively launched Suvida's operations in Texas and Arizona, assembling teams, setting up the clinical enterprise and showcasing his leadership and dedication to healthcare excellence. His efforts have significantly contributed to Suvida's expansion and the establishment of its culturally informed clinical care model.
In his dual role as chief medical officer and chief of clinical services, Dr. Matuk supervises all clinical staff and operations, which includes managing physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses, and overseeing population health, clinical quality, pharmacy, nutrition services and wellness activities at the center. He ensures the clinical team is well-supported to deliver top-tier care to patients.
Under Dr. Matuk's guidance, Suvida Healthcare is on track for further growth and success in its mission to serve Hispanic seniors, providing healthcare services that are not only of high quality but also culturally relevant.
Dr. Matuk's expertise encompasses clinical, academic and business aspects of healthcare. Before joining Suvida, he was an assistant professor of pediatrics and chief medical officer at the University of Houston College of Medicine, where he managed the clinical operations, primary care practice and patient experience model.
Earlier, he held clinical leadership positions at Lone Star Circle of Care and Legacy Community Health, two prominent federally qualified health centers in Texas. Dr. Matuk advocates for value-based care and patient-centered medical home models, employing an integrative approach to medicine that includes homeopathic care.
Dr. Matuk obtained his doctoral degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City and completed his postgraduate training at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He remains committed to serving his community, frequently traveling to Mexico City to provide primary care.
He earned a Master of Business Administration from Rice University, where he currently teaches a course on risk models and value-based care. His entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to community health and holistic care approach significantly contribute to Suvida's mission to support Hispanic senior populations.
Dr. Matuk holds certifications from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Mexican National Academy of Medicine and is an active member of the National Hispanic Medical Association. In his leisure time, he enjoys swimming and spending quality time with his wife and their three children.
